Welcome back!

On behalf of everyone at our school, I would like to welcome you, as parents, and your children back, and hope that you had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year break!

We have started the new term in our usual busy way, with our learning this week being centred around two themes – “Going for Goals” and “Inspirational People”.

We have heard stories of heroes, a tale of courage and determination on the athletics track, been introduced to the music of Desmond Dekker, and listened to the tale of two ugly bugs – one of whom took a risk and climbed high to reach a new life outside of the pond where he had always lived, whilst the other stayed exactly where he was, at the bottom of the dark, muddy water, doing the same thing day in and day out – hopefully, inspiring us to aim high and strive for what we believe in.

Learning about the lives and legacy of famous people from history, such as Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and Florence Nightingale, has given us an insight into the life-changing work they did, and we showed and celebrated our (and their) work in afternoon assemblies to finish the week.

Finally, I would also like to inform you that Miss Wells, who teaches in our Foundation Stage, has started in her new role as Acting Deputy Head Teacher for the rest of this term.  She will become a more familiar face to KS2 children over the next few weeks, and we wish her every success in her new role.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. J. Sherwin,

Acting Head Teacher.
