As introduced here, all classes in our school now use Class Dojo to support home-school communication. This includes updates on learning which will replace this class blog. Our theme this term has been transport. We have been looking at a variety of different ways to travel. In our classroom we have an aeroplane and airport which the children have enjoyed travelling to many exotic locations including Tenerife and Lancaster.
Outside we have a train station including a ticket office and train. We have been focusing on the story Rosie’s walk and in PE we thought of ideas on how to act out the story. The children thought of different equipment we could use in order to travel in a variety of different ways like Rosie.
During number time we have been looking at car registration plates recognising a variety of different numbers and some letters! Back in the classroom we have been playing number plate Bingo which is one of our favourite games.
Our theme this term has been Mini Beasts. During this theme we have been very busy searching for bugs outside and focusing on our caterpillars inside. We have been observing the changes that have been happening to the caterpillars and are waiting patiently for them to hatch into butterflies. We have based our learning around the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and have been treated to a caterpillar snack with apples, pears, plums, strawberries and oranges. We have also been making caterpillars using paint and potatoes using both these tools to make repeating patterns. Outside we have been busy in the mud kitchen making some mud pies for our bugs, we hope they found them tasty, and we found a variety of creatures including a worm and a snail which we named slimy
During our learning about the Three Little Pigs we completed several activities. We made a variety of different houses using junk modelling materials, toy bricks, sticks and straw. We also painted the characters from the story and used our huffs and puffs to blow paint everywhere! We also completed a science experiment using a hair dryer to see if we could blow down the straw, stick and brick house.
