Jack and the Beanstalk

IMG_0805 IMG_0807 IMG_0809 IMG_0811Our pirate ship has turned into a castle and our sand tray is now a florist. We have been learning about the story Jack and the Beanstalk. We have been acting out the story using masks, small world toys and our big castle; building play dough beanstalks; planting and selling flowers; making magic beans; we have even planted our own beanstalks. Lets hope they grow soon!

Snow

We were so excited when it snowed at the beginning of March. We wrapped up warm and had some fun in the snow.

By the afternoon it had all melted so we played in the puddles instead.

Pirates

We have begun our theme on traditional tales. The children have enjoyed the story of Peter Pan so we have focused our learning around Pirates! So far we have made a pirate ship; been on a treasure hunt and found the treasure using a map; opened a treasure chest that the pirates stole and padlocked using 6 locks; used the Bee Bots to navigate to the X and sailed ships on the puddles outside. We have thoroughly enjoyed being pirates!

Celebration Week

The week before half term we had a very busy week with a variety of celebrations falling at a similar time. First we had Chinese New Year. We made Chinese lanterns and created movements with dragons outside. At snack time we tried a variety of Chinese foods including spring rolls, prawn crackers and egg fried rice. They were delicious.

On the Tuesday it was Shove Tuesday so we tried some pancakes. We didn’t have enough time to make our own but they were still very yummy.

Towards the end of the week we focused on the feeling of love! We made some Valentines cards and wrote them to our Valentine!

Spider Biscuits

To finish our learning on nursery rhymes with spiders we had a special treat. We carefully spreadĀ chocolate spread onto the biscuitsĀ (and our fingers), we then counted out two sets of 4 legs for the spider before adding two eyes. We really enjoyed counting out objects and getting very messy!
